Minute Man National Park and Maine - Keels go to Canada day 11

So we woke up and decided we just could not do more people that day. We researched the night before and found that Minute Man National Historical Park was not far from our hotel. This park is between Lexington and Concord and highlights the night ride of the minute men. So we decided not to go for the Boston National Historical Park as we had planned. Now It should be noted that this was the ONLY thing on the whole trip we planned but did not do. Minute Man National Historical Park was not planned but worked out perfect in place of Boston when we just needed a slower day filled with less people. So, off to Lexington we went!

Of course we got started on our Jr Ranger national park badges, first up was the movie. I actually learned something new here, I always thought Paul Revere said "The Redcoats are coming" or "The British are coming", however that is not true. They actually said "The Regulars are coming". "The British are coming" would be rather confusing since everyone was British. Its a bit crazy how we get facts wrong. Its not all because teachers are bad, or because our history books are wrong. Its impossible for teachers, especially elementary teachers, to be experts in every area of every subject, especially history, since there is so much.
I was reminded here how much determination and passion the patriots had. They believed enough in their cause they put their lives on the line. Most of us want to say we have that kind of courage, but I think it would be a lot harder to muster up than we want to admit.

We enjoyed all of the things offered at the visitors center then we took off to see a few sites.

The kids got to interview a ranger dressed in Character at the Hartwell Tavern, a place that was not only a farm but a tavern where people would stop and discuss important ideas.
When you see a truck that says "who but" on it, you have to repeat the phrase with a slightly different spelling, "who butt" and take a picture. This is all because of Paul.

We ate dinner in Maine at Old Mill Diner based on a recommendation by a friend. It was amazing. I highly recommend it. I want to go back to Maine partly for this restaurant.

In case you did not know, Chloe loves coffee. She stole mine. I can't say I'm surprised though, I used to do this very thing to my parents, which is why I've been drinking my coffee black since I was 2.
This right here.... This is why I loved this restaurant. I was warned that I would be dreaming of this Mac & Cheese... and its true. It was amazing. I am now attempting to make this stuff so any white cheddar mac and cheese recipes you have... send them my way.

We saw our first snowmobile sign. There were many signs we saw on the trip that were new to us, we are used to deer and alligator signs.
We stayed in Bangor ME that night, the kids enjoyed the indoor pool at the hotel, and of course, mom did laundry.
