Gettysburg and Hershey - Keels go to Canada day 7

I woke up that morning before everyone else and went down to eat breakfast and drink coffee by myself. It was a cold and rainy start to the day. Once I got back to the room some of the kids were up and ready for breakfast so I went back down with them.

Dad and Abby had breakfast together before we headed out. On the way out we couldn't pass up this great photo opportunity!
Each floor had a huge number on the wall across from the elevator. So with our luggage cart and all we took Sarah's picture on floor 3, went up to 4, then down to 2 and finally 1.
We were literally  5 minutes from Gettysburg National Park. They had a huge area. There was a museum and movie that you had to pay for in order to see. With our time constraints we did not feel it was a great option for us to pay for something we would need to rush through with 4 kids. So we looked at the displays in the lobby then had the kids set out on their Jr.  Ranger stuff.
Have you noticed that Abigail likes to strike a pose?

This was a well near a battle site, and a visit to this location was part of their Jr. Ranger experience.
We also saw the Civil War Cemetery, which was across the street from where Lincoln gave the Gettysburg address. We talked about why it is important to visit these sites and remember the cost of war.
We also visited Little Round Top, another battlefield. We saw these cannons, which a tour guide near us was telling a group that it took 70 soldiers to bring it up the hill.
Daddy took the kids to the top of Culps Tower while mommy and Chloe waited in the van.

Once we finished our driving tour we went back for the kids to get their Jr Ranger badges. The kids did their ceremony which included saying the Jr. Ranger pledge, getting their certificate, and getting their patch.
Next we were on to Hershey!
Poor Chloe, by this point in the trip her nap schedule was so messed up that she basically went to sleep any time she was in the car for more than 10 minutes.
It took a little bit of time to find out exactly where we were supposed to go. The lot near Chocolate World was full due to the rain and people from the theme park being in Chocolate World. We had to ride the bus from the parking lot to the entrance.

We of course had fun taking pictures with all the candy statues.

We could see it was a bit crowded from the outside of the store, but once we got inside we saw just how crowded it was.
Barely any room to walk around, people EVERYWHERE. I was ready to leave as soon as we got there but dad said no, we drove this far we are looking around. So we did.
Most people were in the lines for the tours, so after we got passed those areas we could actually see things.

On the way out we got a KitKat milkshake.
Once Chloe got the milkshake in her hands, she did not want to share it. Check out her video.
We saw a large chicken which we of course had to get a picture of... I'm still not sure why.
We headed to Conshohocken, which is just outside of Philadelphia, this would be our stop for the night.

Trains really are no fun when you've been in the car and are 2 blocks from your hotel.
Our room was nice. It had a bedroom for mom and dad, the kids got the living room. The living room had a TV that you could move and see pretty much anywhere in the room. Even if you were in time out. *note, Sarah was not in time out, she was just posing for the picture.
We had dinner at Mamma's Pizzaria.

If you ever get the chance to eat there, do it. Get the Philly cheesesteak. It is THE BEST thing you will ever eat. All other Philly cheesesteaks are ruined for me. Here is their facebook page.

Once we got back to the hotel the kids went swimming and I started the laundry. PR decided he was done with the pool, there were too many loud kids there. He came up and got some pizza and enjoyed himself.

The night ended well, aside from the fact that I had to run the dryer 3 times for one load. That was highly annoying, and expensive. Tomorrow we will explore Liberty Square!
